Scoot raised her own hoof, placing it on top of Babs' for a moment. The young earth pony had a point; if they'd been expected to kill each other, Scootaloo would just have faked sick or something, regardless of any consequences. As it was... well, she wasn't looking forward to coming out of it beaten and bruised, but unlike Apple Bloom or Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo liked to think that she would be tough enough to take it if she had to. And, as bad as the idea of Babs beating her up was, the orange pegasus had to confess to herself that the possibility that she would be the one to hurt Babs made her feel even worse. She met the other filly's green eyes for a moment. "Sisters in crusaderhood forever, no matter who wins," she promised. She didn't want this to happen at all, but at least if they could keep on good terms in spite of it, the little pegasus hoped that would count for something.
"I don't know how I'm expected to focus in class today knowing about this," she muttered, lowering her hoof. If she could think of anything at all beyond the upcoming fight, that would be a miracle in itself. Couldn't whoever was in charge at least have given the fighters the day off to prepare - or rather, in their case, to try and think of as many ways to avoid this as possible - instead of expecting them to attend classes as though nothing was wrong.

For a while, all Wee Dingwall had done was simply stare at Stitch, mouth slightly opened, eyes seemingly vacant. So, this was Stitch. That was all well and good for who Stitch was, but didn't answer what he was. More to the point, how was he even supposed to fight a creature even smaller than he was? Bigger? Certainly. Same size? Alright. But smaller? That seemed, almost wrong somehow. Like his father, Wee Dingwall would never be very tall, but that had never stopped anyone in the Dingwall Clan from being a fierce warrior.
"Huh," was all he said after a while. At least it wasn't a fight to the death. If it had to be to the death, he's prefer a bigger opponent. For a moment longer he was silent, thinking over his upcoming fight, realizing he didn't really know what the rules were.
"Do ye know what the rules for this bout are? Is it to first blood? Score? Or until one person yields?" he asked, shrugging slightly. Those were the only rules for a personal duel that he knew of.

His gut feeling was right. This was Jack. He wasn't quite what Kristoff was expecting. Well, honestly, he didn't quite know what he was expecting himself. Maybe he was expecting someone - or something - that was unnaturally dangerous. A giant creature of darkness, someone who was far more rugged than Kristoff. Instead, he was going up against Jack. That gave Kristoff a glimmer of hope that he wouldn't get beaten to death. It didn't ease his mind much, but it was enough for now. At least he was aware of who he was going to be fighting now. Brown eyes stared blankly at the hand offered to him, not entirely realizing that he should be shaking it.
Eventually, he did reach out for Jack's hand with his own free hand not occupied with a book.
"Yeah, I guess so," Kristoff replied with a half-hearted shrug. He wasn't a big fan of people, sure, but he wasn't a fan of being pitted against another person for no reason other than to just fight. To be perfectly honest, Kristoff wasn't entirely sure what to say to Jack. What were you supposed to say to someone you were going to have to fight? Taunt them, wish them luck, tell them you didn't want to fight? Kristoff reminded himself that this wasn't a death match, that nobody was going to be injured fatally. "I mean, we won't be killing each other, right?" The mountaineer wasn't much of an optimist in situations like this, and he physically had to force himself to think good thoughts. If he didn't, he might have gone crazy throughout the entire day, thinking that the worst thing could happen during the battle every moment of the day.

Jack gave an awkward laugh though the it wasn't that funny. He wasn't really sure why he was talking to the boy at all. It didn't matter to him that they were in different circles, at least to him. It was clear that neither of them wanted to fight each other. "Yeah, I guess that's the only plus to this." he rubbed his neck. "You know, i was aware that I would be fighting at some point but to be the first on the list." he frowned at the ground. "Guess I should be thankful that someone I know isn't on the list, but now I have to be the one to break the news to her."
He glanced around the room, thankfully Elsa was not here to look at the list, but maybe that would have been an easier way to do this. "I guess they would know if we were going easy on each other huh?"

Arietta's eyes narrowed, and her cheeks puffed out a little bit in anger. Sure, she wasn't strong or as smart as other people but there was one thing that she knew. She was not going to be laughed at. "Well, if you are so sure of yourself, then you have nothing to worry about right?" she asked, raising a pink eyebrow at Sync. Most people would have seen this as a bit ridiculous. It would be like fighting with a toddler. At least in the older kids point of view, and probably in Sync's. Arietta had been hoping to give Sync a chance but now, now she just wanted to beat him. "If you are so sure of yourself, then I won't hold anything back in the arena. I expect you to give me the same respect Greenie." she spat the last word in disgust. Sync just laughed harder. This girl thought she was a serious threat? Someone who needed to be respected, for that matter? Well, he thought it was just laughable. Even if she was older than him, and he could guess that much without being absolutely certain, she hadn't had the experiences he had. He had been trained to fight and knew exactly what he was doing both in terms of physical attacks and magic. If she could best him, he'd surely be surprised by it. As of that moment, though, Sync didn't have much of a reason to take Arietta seriously. Her angry face and the way she had called him 'Greenie' just cemented it as a joke to him. "Yeah, well we'll see about that. Let's test it in the arena, then. You or me; we'll see which side this world wants to survive," Sync said. He didn't know if the fight would be to the death or not, nor did he particularly care. Sync would just be interested in seeing if this girl could really hold her own against him. --- "Don't worry, Pinkie. I don't want to hurt you, either. We'll think of some way out of this," Twilight said. Could they, though? She wasn't certain for once. The most she could think of doing was trying to teleport Pinkie out of the arena and to some safe place, and even that seemed a bit difficult to do. It might not have even worked in the first place. Her ears fell back with uncertainty and she rubbed her hoof against the ground for a moment. "We'll think of something. I'm sure of it."
