Circle: Water
Age: Nineteen(in human form), real age is approximately around three thousand years.
Skills: Intelligence, strategist, martial arts, plant and seed manipulation. As 'Youko' he is physically stronger and more nimble, he also has a wider variety of plants that he can control.
Weaknesses: His kindness and affection for his human mother is his number one weakness. He also has a habit of underestimating those he believes are weaker then himself. As 'Shuichi' he is weaker and can only control a select number of plants.
Friends: Hiei(best friend), Yusuke, Kuwabara, Keiko, Botan, Koenma, Genkai, and a few others.
Family: Shiori Minamino(mother), Kazuya Hatanaka(step-father), Kokoda Hatanaka(step-brother).
Enemies: Many.
Brief History: Originally a demon fox by the name of Youko, Kurama made quite the name for himself in the Makai as a notorious thief and bandit over the many decades he lived there. During that time he took on a few partners, one was a demon named Yomi who thought that he could out shine Kurama at his own game. It cast him his eye-sight as Kurama had in the end betrayed him by hiring a assassin. Though the assassin ultimately failed he still did his job in getting rid of Yomi. Afterward Kurama ran solo for awhile, until he met Kuronue that is. He met the bat demon when he ended up stealing the treasure that he was after first, what started out as a scuffle over the stolen gem, ended with the two walking away with a new-found friendship. Afterward the two were nearly inseparable, they became a formidable duo, walking away from the most well-guarded vaults nearly completely unnoticed. It was during such a heist that ended Kurama and Kuronue's reign of 'terror'.
Like all good things, Kurama and Kuronue's friendship had to come to an end. And a tragic one at that. Kurama and Kuronue were fleeing from a seemingly successful theft, it did not end that way. The string to the amulet that Kuronue always carried with him had somehow been cut causing him to drop it. Refusing to leave without it the bat demon turned back to get it despite Kurama's protests. It was then that Kuronue fell into a trap that ended with him being impelled by multiple bamboo shoots. With his life fading fast, Kuronue pleaded with Kurama to leave him behind, which in the end the fox reluctantly consented.
Afterward, Kurama was left to live the life of a thief alone once more. After Kuronue's death, he swore to never getting close to any of his partners again, for fear of the pain the loss caused him. During another failed theft Kurama was gravely injured, he would have died from his wounds had he not thought and acted as quickly as he had. Transferring his soul into that of an unborn human fetus, Kurama was able to save himself. And thus Shuichi Minamino was born.
For the next fifteen years Kurama lived as a human, being raised and cared for by his new human mother. It was during this time that Kurama met all of his current friends. Having many adventures, meeting old foes now turned friends, and gaining new family along the way. Four short years didn't seem like a long to the centuries old fox demon, but a lot had happened in that short time and truthfully he was thankful for it.
It was after everything had more or less settled down and Kurama was free to return to his seemingly normal human life, that he received the letter asking him to attend Dante's Academy. Never being the type to pass up a change at farther knowledge Kurama left his mother with promises to return when he could, never knowing just what he was walking right into.
