"I thought that was you, Tod. I heard ya comin'."
Copper
Circle: Earth.
Age: Around 19-20 in human terms.
Skills: A quick thinker, being a trained hunting dog has given him some skill in fighting, a strong jaw, and has a bit of strength in his limbs.
Weaknesses: His sense of smell, although a very good thing on the hunt can distract him during a fight. He, being a primary scent-hound, tends to focus more on his sense of smell then any other sense. Although strong, wouldn't be able to stand up to much bigger opponents for long.
Friends: Tod.
Family: Chief(sees the older canine as a father figure), Amos Slade(owner).
Enemies: Doesn't really have any.
Brief History: Bought by Slade at a young age, Copper was more or less raised by the hunter and his older dog. Shortly after coming to live with Chief and Slade, Copper met a fox kit by the name of Tod. Being a rather young puppy and not knowing any better, their meeting blossomed into a fast friendship. Despite both Slade's and Chief's disapproval of the friendship Copper continued to visit Tod nearly everyday. One of their last meetings ended with Copper getting tied up. It wasn't long afterward that Slade packed up their things and loaded up the dogs in his car. They were headed for a winter long hunting trip. Despite his excitement, Copper's mood was a little dampened by the fact that he didn't get to say goodbye to Tod.
During the winter, Slade and Chief worked hard to turn Copper into a true hunting dog, and despite some rough starts, the trip ended in success. Copper turned out to be a better hunting dog then either of his trainers had expected. The following Spring they returned come with a truck load of 'varmit' skins. That night, Copper was awoke by Tod, who had come to see his old friend. Copper had at first been very happy to see that his fox friend had done well over the winter, and he couldn't help but notice how much he had grown. But when asked in they were still friends, Copper was bitterly reminded of his training and what he was now. Although reluctantly, he tried to turn Tod away, but before the fox could say anymore Chief was awoke to their talking and before Copper could register what was really happening he was ordered to case down his friend.
In a event following that nearly killed Chief, Copper turned his shock into rage, and vowed to kill Tod for what he had done. For the following days, Tod's 'owner' the widow next door had taken him and placed him in the nearby game preserve, this didn't stop Slade or Copper however. Early one morning the pair traveled to the preserve and cut a hole in the barbed fencing that surrounded it. It didn't take them long to find where Tod had made his home and soon a new case broke out. Copper ended casing Tod and a female fox up to a waterfall where a large black bear had been. Slade had had the misfortune of disturbing it and despite his best efforts. Copper couldn't stand up to the bear. It was thanks to Tod that either of them got away. It was this that caused Copper to really think about what he was doing. Chief hadn't died in the train accident, and that really was what it was; an accident. Nothing more. And here he was trying to kill the fox he'd promised he'd always be a friend to.
After Copper protected a injured Tod from Slade, the hunter and dog returned home. But Copper didn't leave with out letting Tod know that their friendship had been spared. A few weeks later, Copper woke to find a letter right out side of his barrel inviting him to some school. Chief had scoffed at the idea, but Copper was more then willing to leave. And soon he was on his way to Dante's Academy.
(Again not brief, sorry. XP)
