[OOC: September 5th, before the big fights. Open to everyone. Meant for me to bring Sunset Shimmer into play really. So yeah. Bring in anyone she might get to make fun of or be a friend to.]
The list had been placed, the fights had been set. It was too bad it was so early for scores to be settled. What bothered her the most was that she was not going to participate in any of them. It didn't bother Sunset too much, she knew that eventually she would be chosen to fight and she was confident that she would in fact win against any opponent. The flamed haired girl walked into the big quad and looked around. Figures. No one else was around. They were either getting ready to fight or crying in their rooms because they were afraid to get a few scratches. The fire circle members who were in the fights had better not lose their matches or she would give them something to cry about.
"How boring." she muttered. "No one is here." she shrugged before adjusting her tie. It wasn't the best fashion accessory but it wasn't too bad, plus it matched well with her personality. Since no one else was around, the girl decided to take in everything about the quad that she could. No doubt that this would be the only time it was ever going to be empty.

He felt sick.
Hiccup had gone to see the list of who would be fighting, and doing so had revealed a few things to him. The first thing was that, thank his lucky stars, he wouldn't be fighting anyone. The unfortunate thing was that a good hunk of the friends he had made, including Luna and Arietta, had been selected to fight. Astrid, too, was one of the chosen fighters. Hiccup was debating over whether or not he should even bother to watch the fights. He'd been so nervous the night before that he'd barely gotten any sleep, and the whole idea of watching the fights in general made him want to curl up into a corner and die. Knowing that his friends would have to be fighting made him feel even worse, especially since he was the only one in his new group of friends that wouldn't be involved.
He walked about the quad in a daze, barely registering the sound of his own footsteps or anything else around him for the most part. He just wanted to go back to the dorms and forget the whole thing, but something compelled him to keep walking. Maybe he'd get lucky and just have time to himself, he thought. Maybe the gods would continue to lavish luck upon him and nothing bad would happen.
Hiccup should have known better. He should have known by that point that the universe had a funny way of kicking people when they were down. So, barely acknowledging Sunset's presence, Hiccup continued onward. The way he held himself and his appearance, particularly his odd left foot which refused to be covered by any shoe, wasn't helping matters. If she wanted to do something to him, she probably would have been able to without a problem.

The blue eyed girl lifted her head to see a newcomer in the Quad. 'So much for having this place to myself.' she thought grimly before taking in the boy's looks. He, well in her own terms looked like he was going to throw up. He was a scrawny kid, with nothing remarkable about him, as far as she could see. In fact, to Sunset, it looked like that girl from her school who hung around with animals. The name always escaped her but it didn't matter. Her eyes narrowed at his leg. Interesting. "What's wrong with you?" she asked putting a hand on her hip. "You look like you want to throw up."

Upon hearing Sunset's voice, Hiccup came to an abrupt stop and looked up. His first impression was that the girl looked rather strange. He'd never seen anyone with red and yellow hair before, but he decided not to comment on it. He was too worried about how the fights would go to really care about commenting on her appearance anyway. In answer to her question, and without thinking about what it might sound like, Hiccup decided to explain.
"It's my friends. Most of them have ended up in today's fights, and I'm the only one in our group that isn't. So... I'm likely going to have to watch them get beaten to bloody, unrecognizable pulps and there's nothing I can do about it," Hiccup said. It did make his stomach feel somewhat better, but not completely. Subconsciously, he'd begun to tap his metal foot against the ground in an effort to calm himself down a bit. He had no idea that Sunset had even noticed how weird his foot looked in general. She'd surely comment on it before long, though. In the back of his mind, Hiccup had the sneaking suspicion that she was just the sort that would poke fun at it. But that thought was drowned out quite effectively by his worries.

Oh. So that's what it was. Sunset had figured as much. The kid obviously wasn't involved in the fights, at least not yet. She pretended to think of a response to his explanation. "You know you don't have to watch right?" she asked looking at him with a raised eyebrow. "Then again, i wouldn't expect you to. You don't look like the sort who can handle this kind of challenge." She slowly caught a glanced at his metal foot. It was strange to her but had paid it no mind until he started tapping it. So far, the kid seemed like the perfect way to find out more about the opponents and fights in general.
But, so far, this kid was acting like Fluttershy, clearly not a violent bone in his body. He wouldn't last one minute in the arena.

"Oh, yeah. Because not watching is going to be ten times better. While they get sent to fight, I'll get to sit around and wonder if they get killed or not. Yeah; really great plan there," Hiccup deadpanned. He'd rather watch and find out what happened than sit in the dark and wait for his friends to return one at a time. He'd have said more on the very subject, but finally Sunset had remarked upon his demeanor. Honestly? Hiccup couldn't blame her. For a Viking, he looked about as threatening as a Terrible Terror. In fact, he probably was the Viking equivalent of one.
"So what if I don't look like I could handle it? Maybe I don't want to handle it at all," Hiccup said. It was his best attempt at defending himself from that much. Otherwise, Hiccup didn't look like he was going to say much in his defense. If anything, he just would kind of take it like he had back home.

Sure, keep talking, THAT'S the idea.
The male grumbled as he shifted his dull fur up off of the grass. He was sleeping, napping before he headed back to the dorms to change before working out. He liked napping in the open; it wasn't like anyone was going to rob a seven foot tall monster with razor sharp claws, huge horns and sharp fangs. He was quite confident of his own safety. But Hiccup and Sunset's words were piercing his ear. His eyes narrowed as he rolled over on his side to peer at the group.
He stretched, rose, cracking his neck a bit as he walked over, placing his shoulder bag he was using as a pillow over his shoulder. He saw the pair who'd awoken him. A yellow and red monster, from his eyes, and a skinny scrawny human.
He snorted approaching the pair. "Ahem," he scoffed, waiting for them to notice him.

Sunset looked at Hiccup for a long time. "If that's the case then why are you here?" she asked. "No offense Metalworks, if you don't start acting tougher you are going to be dead before you set foot in the arena. You don't have the guts, so why haven't you turned and run off like the coward you are?" Her words were harsh but most likely they were true. "It's survival of the fittest in this world kid, you don't get that then you-" She stopped talking as a blue monster approached them.
She stared at him for a long time before sighing. "Well? What do you want?"

Johnny placed his hands on his hips, eyebrows raised. He'd heard what Sunset Shimmer had said right before realizing she might have just been a super strange looking human rather than a monster. Still she was cute. He snorted as she addressed him. If she was a human she was in for a world of fear when he got through with her. He didn't quite take to broken door humans with haughty attitudes. He gave a low growl before turning his frown to a haughty grin.
"Just admiring the conversation," he said, digging his hands into his jacket pockets. "Johnny Worthington. Nice to make your acquaintance. And what brings you two to the quad to start trouble today?"

"Sunset Shimmer." The girl replied, keeping her voice neutral though she had to admit to herself that he did impress her. He didn't seem intimidated like the others had been. Good. Keeping her blue eyes on the monster in front of her, she shook her head, a confident smirk on her face.
"I got bored of hearing everyone whine and cry about taking part in the fights. I wanted to get some time of fresh-air before going to see what all the fuss is about." Personally, Sunset wasn't sure if any of the fighters had any good qualities or were even worth fighting. But that's what recon was for, gaining information. It could come in handy if going against them in a later date.

Johnny overlooked Sunset Shimmer's wardrobe. Red. He grinned. A fire circle member like himself. His eyebrows raised as he peered at her, turning his head to Hiccup before turning back to her. His eyebrows raised casually.
"Hm, intimidated, eh?" He said with a soft voice, "Well I can't say any of the fire circle members I'VE met are. I certainly am not. As a former Roar Omega Roar member I've tackled worse than a few little scraps with students inferior to me."

"Oh?" Sunset asked, raising an eyebrow, keeping a calm look on her face. A popular guy, most likely around the school yards, much like herself. "Most people I know back home were intimidated By me." she stretched her arms and lay the back of her head on her hands. Best part of this was that she was at least getting to know someone who could handle her own power and sharp tongue. About time. Not many people could do that.
She glanced at Hiccup, scanning him as if ranking him on a scale of one to ten. Surely, no one could be intemidated by this kid. He was scrawny, scared and to her, didn't seem very intelligent.
