Brief History: Tod was born a forest animal, but at a young age he lost his mother to a hunter and ended up being taken in by an old farmer woman named Widow Tweed. He grew up on the farm with her and eventually met a hound puppy named Copper. The two became fast friends, but soon he and Copper were separated for approximately a year. When Copper returned, however, he was a changed dog. He had been trained to be a hunter, and Tod was now his prey. An incident led to Copper's mentor, Chief, breaking his leg and Tod was brought to a game preserve for his safety. He met his mate, Vixey, there, and one final confrontation between him and Copper followed not long after. Tod ended up saving Copper from a bear, and after the bear died Copper returned the favor. Tod went on to live a peaceful life with Vixey from there in the preserve.
...Except one day, a letter arrived for the two inviting them to a school. Tod didn't quite understand it, but being more familiar with human life than Vixey was he thought he might be able to hold his own there. Still, if she was going then he would have to protect her. The two went, but soon discovered that they had been separated...
