Brief History: Twilight was born into a small family of unicorns and raised in Canterlot. When she was old enough, she was accepted into Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns and taken under the Princess' wing as her student. Years later, she discovered that it was time for Nightmare Moon's return and, with the help of her new friends, was able to stop her. She and the others later on stopped Discord and helped with defeating Queen Chrysalis. She permanently set up home in Ponyville after Nightmare Moon's defeat and became a regular resident. She even stood up to a bragart unicorn known as Trixie and showed her up for being such a boastful mare.
One day, while Twilight was getting some practice in for a particularly difficult spell, she received a strange letter. It wasn't from Celestia, so it only piqued Twilight's curiosity. She read it and, upon learning it was an invitation to a school, decided to see what was going on. She bade farewell to her Ponyville friends and Spike and headed off to Dante's Academy, unaware of how dangerous it actually would be.
