(ooc: September 3rd. For Mirajane and Jayfeather to meet. Closed to those two.)
Any human might have marveled at the fact that a blind feral cat had managed to make his way from a lakeside territory all the way to a school. To Jayfeather, though, it was nothing extraordinary. He'd made trips about the forest and gone on journeys before, so what was the big deal? The silver-furred tabby strode about the school with caution. Never before had he entered a twoleg nest and he'd never intended to do so in the first place. But... This was StarClan's will, wasn't it? Apparently cats and other animals were in trouble. He'd seen dogs in his dream... Jayfeather hated dogs about as much as any other cat of ThunderClan, but maybe... No. No, he couldn't trust the dogs and he couldn't trust the twolegs. He wasn't a foolish kit, after all. Jayfeather was a grown cat and he had the sense to know where the danger was. Even if this was StarClan's will, Jayfeather simply wouldn't allow himself to be swayed so easily by the animals and twolegs he was supposed to help. Speaking of which...
Jayfeather had finally made it to the supposed medicine cat den. It smelled nothing like the one in ThunderClan, and he couldn't seem to locate any herbs outside of the ones he'd bundled up and brought with him. Ears fell flat against his skull and blue eyes narrowed; this just wasn't a good set up. How was he supposed to work in some unfamiliar territory? He'd be shunned forever if the other cats knew where he was. Only Leafpool knew why he had left ThunderClan, and as questionable as his mother's loyalty was he had no choice but to trust her with this secret. Jayfeather could only hope that he was right in listening to StarClan's will this time.
"Where am I supposed to do any good here, anyway?" Jayfeather wondered out loud. He didn't expect anyone to answer him. The blind medicine cat hadn't scented anyone else present yet, and he had decided to set his herbs and such down to begin sorting. Eventually, though, his ears gave a quick twitch. Was someone coming? The fur along his back ruffled and his tail puffed out; Jayfeather may have been blind, but that didn't mean he couldn't hear. Someone was coming, and he had to be prepared for it.
"Who's there?"

Mirajane had been hoping to not alarm the new medic, someone had told her that she would be getting a fellow medic. One that could work better with animals. Mira, despite having experience, had absolute no experience with animals. And Natsu didn't count. He might have been raised by a dragon but he was still human through and through.
"My apologizes." the girl said. "I didn't mean to surprise you. I just was told that there was going to be another medic around here. So I thought I would..come greet you."

The fur along Jayfeather's back relaxed and he looked over his shoulder. Sightless though he was, the action still felt necessary to acknowledge that he'd heard the speaker. He could smell plainly enough that it wasn't another feline. Instead, it seemed that the other medic of the school was a twoleg. A human as they were better known. To the cats of the lakeside forest, though, they were known as twolegs. This one didn't sound as though she meant to hurt him...
This thought caused Jayfeather to pause for a moment. He actually was able to understand the twoleg language? Before, none of the cats from ThunderClan had been able to communicate with them. He knew his grandfather had been a kittypet and his cousin, Cloudtail, was the son of a kittypet, but had that meant that he could understand their language? Or was this another gift that StarClan had bestowed upon him? The dream to come to this strange place had been more than enough, at least according to the grumpy cat's line of thinking. Being able to understand Mirajane's language was something that was quite handy, though. ...Maybe this situation wasn't entirely bad. The blind cat turned around fully and his tail, which had become less puffy as he'd allowed himself to relax, curled upward into a questioning sort of shape.
"You can understand me?" Jayfeather asked. "Most cats back home would never be able to communicate with a twoleg like yourself."
Jayfeather wasn't about to reconsider what he had said. He'd been to the point with his speech ever since he was a kit; that wasn't about to change any time soon. The blind medicine cat gave a tilt of his head and blinked once. Could she tell he was blind? Twolegs couldn't have been completely oblivious. If the cats back home had figured out that he was blind, then Mirajane could certainly see it. Surely she could see it.
"What do they call you?"

Mira smiled at the feline, the question didn't seem to bother her, based on what she could see, the cat was blind. Poor thing. However, unlike the feline she knew, this one didn't have wings. How odd. "Ah, yes. I can understand you." she said, speaking quickly when she realized that she hadn't spoken. "My name is Mirajane but you can call me Mira. It's nice to meet you...uh..'

Mirajane... It almost sounded like a warrior name. Almost. Jayfeather didn't express much confusion toward it, though, as he'd expected the twolegs in this place to have as confusing names as kittypets and rogues did. Besides, he could accept a name like that if he'd been able to accept Millie and Daisy as a part of ThunderClan. As was not unexpected, a question of his own name had come up. The blind cat let his tail curl around his body and his ears gave a twitch as he prepared to answer. What would she think of it? ...Who even really cared what a twoleg like Mirajane thought of his name? Whether she thought it odd or not, it was his given medicine cat name as was presented to him by his mentor... Who just so happened to be his mother.
"Jayfeather," he answered. He wouldn't accept the name being shortened, either. The only one he'd allowed to shorten it to Jay even briefly had been Lionblaze, and that was out of affection for his brother. Another thing he was all too grateful for was the fact that Mirajane hadn't tried to stroke him anywhere. Kittypets might have liked the action, but as a cat who had strived to stay apart from the lifestyle of a pet he would have been none too appreciative of being touched. It wasn't too much longer before the silvery-grey tabby rose to his paws and glanced around their work space. So different from his old, familiar den... Where was he even meant to sleep?
"If you could tell me how this place is meant to work, that would be great. Where we're meant to put our supplies would be the first thing I'd want to know. I came all this way from ThunderClan with some herbs and I don't want them to just lay about here," he said.

"Well, its very nice to meet you Jayfeather." Mirajane said with a warm smile. She knew that Jayfeather couldn't see it but still it was a way to stay positive in this situation. She didn't find his name weird, sure it was a little out there but she had met several people in her guild with strange names. There was Elfman, her brother and not to mention Lexus. Name's like Jayfeather had no effect on her.
She blinked. He wanted her to explain what to do? "Ah yes, of course." she said. "This is the nurse's office, basically its a lot like a medic tent, people who get hurt come here and medicines can be kept in the cupboards or if they are things like berries, we can put them in the fridge or in some ice." She thought more for a moment and then had to ask. "Thunderclan?" Was that the name of a guild? Or a new world?

"So it's not much different from my old medicine cat den," Jayfeather said. He didn't know what a fridge was, but ice was familiar enough to him. His sister had once gotten her tongue stuck to some once before. The memory of it made the cat snigger to himself for a moment before he realized he still didn't know the layout of this new supposed medicine cat den. Jayfeather sniffed about and collected his bundled herbs in his mouth once more as he prepared to pad around the infirmary. His tail was held high and his whiskers twitched every so often as Jayfeather walked about. So far, nothing really was becoming familiar to him. Maybe it was just something he'd have to adjust to. Once he got to where he thought the strange twoleg device called the fridge was, he set his herbs down again and tilted his head to the side.
Before he got a chance to ask about what it was, Mirajane had asked about ThunderClan. His home... Well, he supposed it wouldn't be too bad to tell her about his home. It wasn't as if Mirajane knew where the lakeside territories were located. With that bit of knowledge in mind, Jayfeather felt safe enough to continue speaking.
"ThunderClan is my home. It's a clan of cats like myself, and we live in a forest. I'm the clan's medicine cat," he said, puffing his chest out with pride. "I heal the wounded and sick warriors within my clan, and I make sure the queens get through giving birth without problems. I also communicate with StarClan and help our leader... Firestar."

Mirajane had remained silent as the cat had spoken of his home. It sounded a lot like her own guild. She was a healer well, she had tried to be the healer. There were many much better than her. "It sounds like my home, a guild called Fairy Tail, its full of wizards, which are humans with magic." she said. "My leader is named Makarov. I am sort of like ..the communicator with him."
She moved a bit to put some bandages in the cupboards, opening them before looking at Jayfeather. "So, what brought you here Jayfeather? Why did you leave your clan for this?"

"StarClan sent me," Jayfeather answered. He knew the answer was rather vague, so against his better judgment he decided that maybe, just maybe, he ought to elaborate. Just this once, though. He didn't want to play the role of an explainer all of a sudden. That just wasn't his style.
"I had a dream," he began, "where I could see cats suffering. They had been dealt terrible injuries, and... There were other animals, too. Dogs," Jayfeather spat the word, for he disliked canine kind about as much as any other clan cat did, "and other animals... Even twolegs like yourself. They were asking for help, and StarClan asked for my aid. I didn't necessarily want to leave ThunderClan in the paws of my mother after... Recent revelations, but she was the medicine cat before myself. I had no choice but to trust her."
He didn't want to go into detail about Leafpool's forbidden relationship with his father. Knowing that he was half clan was terrible enough. Having Mirajane find out about that much would have been even worse. Not that Jayfeather thought that a twoleg would go spouting the secrets of a medicine cat, but still... It was better safe than sorry. Jayfeather decided that the information he had given Mirajane would be more than enough for the present moment.
"I don't pretend to understand why StarClan would want me to help in a place like this, but here I am. ...Where am I meant to sleep, anyway? I had my nest in my medicine cat den back in ThunderClan, but... I don't imagine it would be the same here. Would it."

"Probably not." Mirajane admitted, at least to her, the story that Jayfeather had said was something that she would have never believed had she not been part of Fairy Tail. But anything was possible. "Well, as for sleeping, there are dorms for teachers but if you wanted to stay here, I could find some blankets and try to make it be comfortable for you."
She smiled as she spoke gently. She couldn't help but wonder just what kind of relationship they would get if they worked together for so long. "Thank you for telling me, I know it isn't easy to share stories like this with a stranger."

His ears flattened a bit at the revelation that he wouldn't be sleeping in the area he worked in. There were some things Jayfeather didn't mind adjusting to, but this was something he would stand firmly on. If he was meant to be helping cats - or other animals for that matter - he would need to be close at hand. That was how it had been back home, and he'd hoped that it would be the same here. Alas and alack, it apparently was not meant to be. The only consolation was the offering of twoleg comfort items to make a makeshift nest from. Jayfeather's tail thumped a bit behind him and he decided, against his better judgment, that perhaps he should accept the offer. The last thing he wanted was to share a den with twolegs while he slept.
"I'd prefer to avoid sharing a nest with anyone. Arranging something in here would be preferable," Jayfeather said. He still didn't know the layout of the infirmary that well, but he would manage. With enough time he would come to know the arrangement of the room better than anyone, he assumed. He'd managed to figure out the layout of ThunderClan, the lake territories, and his medicine cat den. How much harder could it be to learn the layout of some twoleg domain?
"It helps being close at paw to those you're helping. If some cat came in around moonhigh and I weren't there, there would be consequences. I simply cannot allow myself to be far from those who need me."

Mirajane nodded, she knew what Jayfeather was talking about. "I can see your point, we haven't had injured yet but with the fights coming-" she stopped herself midway and looked rather uncomfortable at the fact to think about the fights and people getting killed or badly injured. She could only hope that no one would get beaten too badly.
"I think you are right. Having a medic here in case someone has to stay overnight would be wise."

His ears flicked once and Jayfeather stayed silent as though he were waiting for Mirajane to finish. It wasn't as if fights were a foreign concept to the medicine cat. After all, his clan mates risked their lives on a daily basis fighting for the safety of ThunderClan. Jayfeather wouldn't have balked at the idea of fighting. Students fighting couldn't have been any stranger than warriors fighting as he was used to.
"If there are fights," Jayfeather said, "I'll be prepared to mend any cat's wounds. ...Or the wounds of others, too."
He still was a bit flummoxed by how to help twolegs and the like, but if this was StarClan's will then he was willing to go through with it. No matter how humiliating it may have been. He just hoped that none of the twolegs tried to 'make things better' or anything just because he was blind. He could manage by himself once he knew the layout of the infirmary. The last thing Jayfeather needed was twolegs coddling him or anything. The very idea made him feel uncomfortable. Regardless, he could manage.
