"I usually don’t care what people do, but you’re acting weird. ...well, weirder."
Astrid
Circle: Fire
Age: 15
Skills: A capable warrior in spite of her youth, Astrid is tough, and is also a master of the battle-axe in combat.
Weaknesses: Her pride and determination to be the best can often work against her instead of for her.
Friends: Hiccup, Snotlout, Ruffnutt and Tuffnutt, Fishlegs
Family: None known
Enemies: Left for RP
Brief History: Born in the village of Berk, Astrid was orphaned at quite a young age; popular rumour was that both her parents fell in a dragon attack, though since Astrid has never confirmed this, or even discussed the matter at all, no-one knows for sure how they died. What they do know is that Astrid was raised by her grandfather following their death, dedicating herself to learning how to fight. By her teenage years, she was already a capable fighter, and as a result quickly became top of her dragon training class; at least for a time. Until chief’s son and village reject Hiccup went from being hopeless to knowing more about the dragon’s weaknesses than anyone else. Astrid quickly grew jealous, and then suspicious. When Hiccup was chosen for the honour of killing the Deadly Nightmare over her, Astrid decided to follow him, determined to find out his secret.
What she found was a vicious Night Fury that Hiccup had apparently befriended, and the pair of them proceeded to abduct her so that she couldn’t run back and tell the village their secret. After an initial terrifying flight, Astrid gradually began to appreciate Toothless as, following her frightened apology, he treated her and Hiccup to a breath-taking voyage through the clouds, which abruptly culminated in their discovery of the dragon nest and the monstrous Red Death – a discovery that Hiccup convinced her to keep quiet for the time being, to protect Toothless.
Keeping it to themselves, however, proved for naught as the Night Fury charged into the arena the following day to protect Hiccup, and he accidentally gave away how to find the nest. Without listening to his son’s pleas that they stood no chance against the Red Death, Stoik led the whole tribe in an attack on the nest. Following their departure, Astrid spurred Hiccup into taking action, and the youth led her and the rest of their class to save the adults, and defeat the Red Death, each riding one of the captive dragons.
It was some time later, after the adaption of village life to include the dragons as pets, that Astrid received a message inviting her to attend… some sort of school? Confused, Astrid nonetheless decided to accept after she found out that Hiccup had received a similar message; even though he was her friend now, she didn’t intend to be overshadowed by him any more than she had to be.
