(September 2nd during class hours (which I will post soon ^^ Open to any students up for Brian's English class.) "Alright Brian. Okay. Let's get ourselves together here, buddy boy." Brian nervously tapped his papers on his desk. The white dog was wearing a tie and a collar, his own red dog collar underneath of it. His ears raised as he turned to the door. "First student? No...no...squirrel." He let his teeth show, snarling towards the rodent who'd made it inside. Seeing him, he rushed off and Brian smiled smugly. "That's right...I'm the king." His paws shuffled back as he sat at his desk, arranging everything in front of the empty seats. Soon they'd arrive. Soon he'd be teaching young minds.

It seemed that the white haired youth was the first to enter the English class. He had looked at his schedule several times. After English was Chaos Theory. He wasn't sure what that was but it seemed that it would have to wait. Biting his lip, he glanced around the room. There was a dog sitting in the teacher's chair. A dog was teaching? Well, Jack had certainly seen weirder things.
Sighing, he decided to take a seat near one of the windows. At least then he could look out and see what was going on outside.

English. Nice, safe, ordinary English class... Yes, Hiccup was up for this. It wasn't a dangerous class in the least, unless of course someone went lobbing books at people for no reason, and he felt confident in his ability to stay afloat in said class. It would probably be better than whatever Chaos Theory was. So, the redhead made his way inside the classroom and looked around. The first person Hiccup caught sight of was Jack, and the other boy's stark white hair was enough to definitely catch his attention. That was... Different. The second individual in the classroom was a dog. ...Equally different. One eyebrow rose and Hiccup began to wonder if he even was in the right classroom. This was supposed to be an English class, right? Well, Hiccup would soon find out.
"Ah... Hey. This is English, isn't it? Just wanted to make sure I didn't get turned around somewhere in this school and wind up in the wrong room..."

Jack looked up from his trance of staring out the window and looked at his schedule with a smirk. "I would hope so, otherwise I am going to be really really late to class." he replied. "Then again, I am not sure what to expect from these classes, especially this Chaos Theory." he frowned. The other classes he had were weird but not as weird as that one. His blue eyes ran over the dog again, maybe this was just another student. No, he seemed too dressy to be a student.

Brian hopped down from his chair, tail wagging as he looked up at the two boys who'd entered the room. "Hello boys!" he said, "Yes this is for sure English class!" The other students hadn't arrived but the male decided to hand out the silibus anyway. He pressed his paws towards the males, grabbing the paper and placing them on their desks.
"Welcome to English class, gentlemen, where you'll be reading the likes of Hemmingway, Wilde, Poe and Frost!" He grinned proudly, straightening his tie, waiting for their responses.

"Oh, good. I was afraid I ended up in the wrong place somehow," Hiccup said. Then, Brian told them what they would be going over in the class. Good; no dangerous books to tackle. Hiccup was liking this class a lot better already. He nodded when Brian finished the explanation of what they would be covering and offered a relieved sort of look. The authors he was unfamiliar with, that was certain, but at least it didn't sound like their teacher would be threatening to throw books at them any time soon.
"Sounds like it'll be interesting. I, for one, am looking forward to getting started," Hiccup said. He took the opportunity to take a seat in the nearest unoccupied desk, and the second he did another student timidly poked her head into the classroom.
Elsa wasn't having a good start, that was for certain. Containing the fear she felt inside every moment was no easy task, and the poor young woman didn't even know if she'd fit in in the first place. But her parents had insisted it would be good for her. Who was she to argue with what they thought was best for her? After all, they'd been the ones to tell her to conceal what had made her unique. That much was evidenced by the pale blue gloves she insisted on wearing at all times. But... Maybe those present in this class would go easy on her. Maybe they wouldn't stare at her or expect anything other than her participation and learning in the class. Yes... Elsa could manage that.
So far, all she could see was Hiccup, Jack, and Brian. The two boys she offered a slight wave to, noting that neither of them was in her circle, and a polite bow of her head in greeting to who she assumed was their teacher. She wasn't about to question the presence of a bipedal canine. After all, one of her circle's residents was a purple unicorn. If that wasn't strange, she didn't know what was.
"Sorry I'm late, sir," Elsa said as she finally made her way inside. She fidgeted briefly with her gloved hands before ducking down into a seat about two desks away from Hiccup. A slow inhale was followed by an equally slow exhale as she tried to relax. Nothing bad was going to happen, she told herself. It was just English... She'd had English taught to her back in the castle. This wouldn't be a bad class, she was sure of it.

(ooc: Aaaaand we've got one human from each circle in here now XD)
To say Astrid was uncomfortable would be to put it mildly.
The Viking girl didn't like the uniform one bit. She was used to her sleeveless tops and leather skirts - not only more confortable, but very practical and ideal for ease of movement. This, though... aside from being very tight around the collar for some reason Astrid couldn't quite fathom, it had an abundence of loose fabric that was sure to get caught on pretty much anything when it came to combat or training. For a school where the entire point was learning to fight in gladiatorial duels, Astrid couldn't help but think it was a really stupid choice. And as for the ties... not wanting to feel like she was being upstaged by the boys in any way, even if that way was simply enduring the most discomfort, Astrid had opted to wear one too; but even more than the rest of the uniform, they were the height of stupidity in this context. All you'd have to do was grab someone by the tie, choke them with it til they gave up, fight over. The girl kept the end of hers tucked safely into the gap between the buttons of her shirt to negate it as an obvious thing to use against her in combat-centric classes.
Her dislike of the uniform's impracticality quite aside, however... Astrid pushed open the door to her first class of the day. English; while it didn't seem a relevant class, all things considered, Astrid had nonetheless decided it was in her best interests to show up. Entering, she took notice of Hiccup already present, a white-haired boy, another blonde girl - and a dog who appeared to be the teacher. Astrid frowned; then, deciding it wasn't the strangest thing she'd ever seen, shrugged and made her way over to the seat beside Hiccup.
"So, normal classes. Bit of a change from back in Berk," she observed by way of greeting as she sat next to her friend.

The canine's tail was a blurr of activity. As the girls marched in, Brian placed more silibuses on the desks. "Don't worry ladies, the class hasn't even started yet," he said, straightening his tie a little over his chest. Were there more students coming? Each circle's tie glowed in front of him. Ah, so they weren't all in the same group. Hopefully they wouldn't fight each other, that would be unfortunate. His paws shuffled him back to the table.
"Alright kids," he said, "My name is Mr. Griffin but you can call me Brian if you'd like." His tail still wagged as he looked at the kids. "Ah okay, let's go around the room and say our names and our favorite book, huh?"
He hoped to goodness none of them said Twilight.

A crooked smile was offered when he caught a glimpse of Astrid sitting beside him. Astrid, at least, was familiar. But... Hiccup's heart dropped slightly when he saw the coloration of her uniform. Fire... And he was in earth. This wasn't a good thing, as it meant they might have to go up against one another sooner or later. But at least one from each of the four circles was represented in the class for the time being. That girl from the water circle didn't seem very at ease, though. Maybe he'd find out why that was sooner or later. For the moment, though, he focused on Astrid's statement and making a response to it.
"Yeah. It's way different from what Gobber had us doing before. Maybe that's a good thing, though. ...Ignoring the fact that we're supposed to fight sooner or later," he said at length. Hiccup would have said more, but Brian had introduced himself at last. Being used to Gobber's being their teacher, Hiccup wouldn't have a problem simply addressing their teacher as Brian. When asked what his favorite book was, though, Hiccup ended up drawing a bit of a blank. There weren't many books available in Berk. ...There was at least one, though.
"I'm Hiccup, and... Back home, we don't exactly have a lot of books to read. We do have one detailing all the different types of dragons that live around the area, though, and I've read that one. We just call it the book of dragons," Hiccup said.

Morri wasn't having a very good day. First off, he'd tried, and failed, to fit into the clothes left for him. The pants he had given up on as hopeless after only a couple minutes. The shirt wouldn't fit over the hump on his back, then, just as it seemed to be fitting, it ripped. He finally settled for wrapping the tie around his neck and heading off to class. He had been required to take English 101 as a mandatory course. The only problem was he had no idea where it was. Of course, part of that was not being able to read...
Finally, though, he had asked a tall bipedal creature with horns and red skin, and been given clear directions. He knew he was late, but he figured better late than never as he pushed the door opened.
"English one oh one, right? Sorry I'm late. I got lost," he explained sheepishly, making his way to a desk, hoping the teacher wouldn't be too angry. Of course, if he didn't get bitten, then it wouldn't be too bad, he supposed.

Well, it seemed it was time to introduce themselves. Even better still, Elsa hadn't been late. She was glad of that much. At least she hadn't made a complete fool of herself by coming into the class insanely late. Hiccup started them off, and Elsa had to cover her mouth with her hand to keep from giggling a little at his name. Hiccup... She'd heard some strange names, but that took the cake. Even stranger, he came from a place that didn't have many books. How did anyone learn to read without them where he had come from? Elsa wanted to ask, but the arrival of someone else from her circle silenced her. Strange appearance aside, Elsa was just glad someone else from her circle was there. She just nodded a little in response to his question, deciding to leave it to Brian to answer it aloud, and decided to carry on the introductions further.
"I'm Elsa, and... My favorite book? I would have to say The Count of Monte Cristo," Elsa said. The story had just captivated her for one reason or another. It had been one comfort during her time of isolation within the castle, and she'd read it numerous times when Anna wasn't pestering her to come out and interact with her. What about the others, though? What books would they have said were their favorites? Elsa had to admit that she was rather curious to find out now.

Jack looked up at the teacher, he still found it off that a dog was teaching the class. He was thankful that other students had decided to go first. He hadn't read many books so when it came to his turn to speak he fumbled to think of a good book. "I'm Jack, Jack Frost. Uh, my favorite book...I haven't read that many books to begin with so uh..." he rubbed the back of his neck feeling rather nervous. "If i had to pick one maybe...The Snow Queen." he replied. A dark book but he didn't really care. It was a great story either way. It was one of the many books that had made him feel that he wasn't alone. He gave a tiny smile before looking back out the window.

Astrid shrugged. In truth, she didn't really mind much that they were expected to fight; it was essential for her to keep her skills honed, so the idea of taking on opponents in the arena actually held a kind of appeal to the warrior-girl. As long as she wasn't expected to fight Hiccup. She knew it could happen, being in different circles, but Astrid hoped that maybe, with a little luck, they wouldn't be chosen as opponents. She didn't want to have to hurt her friend - excepting the occasions when he actually deserved it, of course. She didn't get chance to give voice to any thoughts on the matter, however, as the canine professor spoke up.
She glanced around at the other two humans briefly as they introduced themselves in turn, before speaking up. "I'm Astrid. And Hiccup mostly summed it up for me too; all we really had in Berk was the Dragon Book." She couldn't imagine what the books Elsa and Jack had mentioned must be about - no-one in Berk devoted time and energy to either reading or writing works of fiction, so what little literature they did have around was mostly factual; the idea of books contaning imagined stories was one Astrid was as of yet unfamiliar with.

Brian raised an eyebrow. "Sooo you all haven't read the classics? Romeo and Juliet? Huckleberry Finn? Catcher in the Rye?" He tugged nervously at his collar. How was he supposed to do this. At least he had literate students unlike before. He could assign the books and maybe they'd read them and write essays that made sense. He tugged his collar once again before continuing to speak.
"I think what we'll start with today is testing your creative writing skills! Doesn't that sound like fun?" He placed a paper and a pencil on each desk before bouncing up to the front. "Alright class! Here's your prompt! You, as yourself, encounter a historical figure of your choice. How do you react? What do you say to him or her? I'll give you guys ten minutes to jot something down. Go!"

But isn't Dumas a classic? Elsa wondered. She almost raised her hand to ask, but stopped herself just in time. There'd be no sense in getting into a debate about it on the first day of class. Instead, the stoic princess decided to hold her tongue and go with the flow of the class. Then, they received their first assignment. Write about what they would do if they met any historical figure and what they would say within ten minutes. It sounded simple enough to Elsa. So, she retrieved a sheet of paper and a pen from her book bag and began to write before long. Her decision was easy enough to make. Elsa had always wondered what it would be like to meet Napoleon, and so she set about writing as much as she could. Maybe it was silly, but she felt it was her best option.
She thought that, for a moment, someone was staring at her as she wrote. Elsa stopped writing long enough to glance up at see Hiccup looking at her. Her gaze went back down to her paper and she resumed writing. He must have thought it strange how she was so capable of writing while wearing gloves, but Elsa wasn't about to explain anything. She'd mastered the art over the course of the years she'd closed herself off from her sister, and there was no way she was about to take them off and risk icing her pen.
